Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  1. Medications: SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) antidepressants can be used as treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder. 50%-80% of people with OCD show a response to SSRI treatment. 40-50% of people with OCD experience a reduction in symptom severity.

  2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Response prevention therapy. It involves the exposure of patients to their obsessions and interrupts the circle of obsessions and compulsions. 60-90% of people completing treatment show significant improvement. This is the most effective OCD treatment.
